Capital Chorus is an award-winning male Barbershop Harmony Club, a friendly and welcoming bunch of men who share a common hobby ….. BARBERSHOP SINGING. Capital Chorus, formed in 1983, comprises over 30 members drawn mostly from West London and surrounding areas. The age range spans from 20s to 70s, and members come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. Our philosophy is to sing well, provide entertainment of the highest quality…. and have lots of fun doing it! We also believe in supporting local good causes: a quarter of all our “sing out" fees goes to our adopted charity The Log Cabin; see the next article. The Log Cabin is an inclusive adventure playground for children and young people aged 4-15 who have special needs or disabilities. Over the last 25 years the Chorus has become a familiar sight at theatres, clubs, corporate events and fund raisers throughout London, with our wide repertoire of songs from the twenties to the eighties proving popular with audiences of all ages and backgrounds. We sing Beatle songs, Gospel, jazz and other fun songs (please click on our Repertoire tab). Capital Chorus has won two national awards in the last three years at the BABS Convention (the annual British championship for Barbershop Singing). In 2009 the club won the prize for the “Most Improved Chorus”, and in 2007 received the accolade of “Best Small Chorus". The group has also won first prize in the open choir competition at the Ealing Music Festival for four years running, in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010. CAPITAL CHORUS is member of the British Association of Barbershop Singers  B.A.B.S. The umbrella organisation for barbershop singers in America is the Barbershop Harmony Society. Capital Chorus take on the Eggheads  A team from Capital Chorus were recently invited to take part in the peak-time BBC quiz show “Eggheads”. Capital’s team – comprising Mike Cook, Paul Gordon, Dave Lewis, Erol McKenzie, Phil Leiwy, plus reserve Ian Yardley – were facing some of the world’s top quiz players. The result has to remain secret until the show is broadcast, most likely in October this year. The exact timing will be confirmed in due course.
